Chemistry of the Frameworks

The frameworks within Nonterritorial’s Generative Exhibitions, Sonic Exhibitions, Cinematic Preview’s — are not technical solutions melted onto a distribution system. They are expressions of this atmospheric thinking, built from the ground up on the premise that what circulates is not content but conditions for experience.

The chemistry between these frameworks is the chemistry of atmosphere itself. Light, sound, time, sequence, rhythm, density— the elements that determine what it feels like to be in a space with art. Nonterritorial doesn't circulate art objects. It circulates the conditions for aesthetic atmospheres to emerge, anywhere, simultaneously, each manifestation genuine because atmosphere cannot be faked. You feel it or you don't. The air changes or it doesn't.

This is what interests us. Not technology, though we use it. Not distribution, though we enable it. Not even access, though we radically expand it. What interests us is the possibility of aesthetic atmospheres arising in places they have never arisen before — in community centers, private homes and corporate lobbies such as ‘a boring lobby hall of insurance company’ and university hallways and anywhere someone cares enough to host.
